Your method should work just fine, as long as you don't need your G36K for anything.

I don't think you need to worry about the G36K's outer barrel twisting your M700's inner barrel, (formely) my CA36's inner barrel sat reasonably loosely inside the outer barrel. Loose enough for me to shim it up.
