Not really a no-no. You're just compressing the spring a bit, which amount to basically putting in an upgraded (stiffer) spring.

The downside you experience is your slide won't lock back after the last shot if your gas pressure is too low, or in cold weather... simply because there wont be enough power to move the slide all the way back.

Also be careful about adding too many spacers, it may lead to misfeeds (specially during rapid firing, which causes more cooldown). Way too many may completely muck up the gun's operation if there's so many spacers the spring becomes completely compressed because the full motion of the cycle.
