You are kidding here right? There are many more things you can use to make the weight realistic and who cares if it is anyway. Use thin foam rubber to fill it out instead of the plates, sand is just ridiculous and will destroy the gear. |
No she's not kidding. The plastic SAPI replica's are quite hollow and ridiculously light (I've worked with both real and training ones). What I do is drill a small hole in the top and fill it with sand to the appropriate weight; then plug the hole with some gun tape. I'm sure most people wouldn't go to the trouble anyway, and yes you're right, filling the actual gear with sand is quite ridiculous. She's not that silly...how do I know? Because I bought the plate carrier for her.
