as with paintball, if you have a parent or guardian with you, you can buy an airsoft gun. so as long as his parents are willing to let him play he could buy a gun. it would just be finding a place that will let him play underage that will prove to be the problem.

And that is exactly why I suggested he go to a game; he would know if he's allowed to play in the first place. And since there are no airsoft stores anywhere near Ottawa, showing up with his parents to buy is not a useful suggestion.
