Range is generally pretty good, maximums for my guns, with the right ammo, my Glock 19 about 120ft easy, 150ft for my MP5, past 200ft with my M24. If you are looking to shoot in yoru basement Boris, a SIG P226 GBB would be awesome for you. Load it up with 0.25g or 0.30g BBs and shoot away. I get about 4" groups with my Glock 19 in my 30ft basement, great fun and cheap (also, don't need ear protection!)
