Well, two folds -
Firstly, I can customize the lenght, size, design, engravings etc etc etc - which is kinda kewl. Plus, me and my boys are kinda bored without a project so this was something little to keep us busy before the the sunny spring/summer which is now upon us. =;c)~
Secondly, the final price comes out to be less than 20 bucks for mats ontop of some time and effort (no shipping and customs fees!)
The part about having it actually work was a bonus for the project.
