Actually, close cell foam looks pretty good from a little googling I just did based on your thoughts. I wonder about a sheet of that and some two-sided adhesive paper. Might just be what I'm looking for.
Its frankly as a result of the rather shiny, oily looking black plastic on the buttstock that I'm looking to cover it up. I figure to give it liberal coverage from the top around the bottom of the battery tubes, then use an exacto to cut it where the battery tubes come off.
Probably check a hobby shop I suppose for some close cell now, thx Eddie.
