JG mp5's are a clone of the TM mp5's which mean that it is a 3 piece receiver where the gearbox goes into the grip and the upper receiver splits into 2 pieces and sandwiches the thing to make a whole gun.
Depending on if you plan to front wire or rear wire the thing you'll either make it a 3/5 in difficulty or a 10/ohgodwhydidibuythis difficulty.
In terms of gearboxes the only difference is the trigger, selector plate, and nozzle. From my experience I would not recommend an MP5 for a starter gun for teching.
