I just got some 6mm 100% silicone food grade line on eBay. 5 bucks/meter w/free shipping. Should be enough for a couple of hundred patches. hehehe. As long as it's pure silicone it'll have lots of grip and stay flexible in the cold (the stuff I got is rated to -60C). ID is 6mm, OD 9mm so you have to sand a bit, but whatever...it's art. Besides, better more than less. You can always remove material, but putting some back can be tricky. It's not official McMaster stuff, but it's all about the experiment, right?
