I would not consider that a new design, per se. I can't remember if the older M9s did this, to be honest with you.
What's new on the Marui M9A! barrel assembly specifically (compared to the pold M9 barrel assemblies) is the inclusion of the inner to outer barrel spacer (the silver thing around the inner barrel in the pic above) and an adjustable hop up.
but sadly, the retailer's supplier did not include that barrel spacer when they modded the gun for Canadian soil. And the retailer themselves did not receive that extra part to send me when I bought the platform. So I can't definitively say that the missing piece would make a difference in regards to this topic. But my hypothesis is that the missing piece would probably stabilize that inner barrel a bit better than the old system did helping in regards to things like accuracy...
