I have an NCStar Aimpoint clone with a cantilever, it works great. I've owned, used, handled, and sold lots of their products over the years (as well as a host of other China clones), and they're pretty much the bees knees of fake optics.
Many (if not most) will be fine for real rifles as well, their Achilles heel tends to be that their mounting hardware is weak or wonky (on some models) on anything more than a GBB. Put some blue loctite on there and maybe a paper shim or two. Many are also REALLY sensitive to having huge adjustments made, so do a few clean clicks at a time for longevity.
Since they're not made with awesome glass, they can be very dark when any kind of protective cover is added. A removable mesh killflash is probably better than lexan hard or soft modded IMHO for this reason. I don't even run one because I don't care anymore
None of them will make you vomit from sheer beauty and excitement, but they hit the spot for price/ performance. They get a big rubber stamp that says "ACCEPTABLE" with a thumbs-up. They have a good warranty.
Go in somewhere to try before you buy for maximum adequacy.
