I had a 2.5" Dan Wesson with brass casings, and it shot super-hot.
Loved that gun. Traded it for my first We HiCapa. As much as I love my HiCapa, I miss the living fuk outa that revolver. I'll get another soonest.
As for fielding, NEVER! It's great for plinking, or for teaching proper gun handling before handing your student real steel. But you'd get your ass handed to you, while losing casings, as you reload during a game.
