I had the same problem with mine, what you suggested should help. I just try not to jam mine full. They say 120 rds, but it's more like 100-110. It's easy to know when to stop filling since you can see the bb's inside. If you're going to run two clipped together it's a good idea to wrap them in some tape. They do feed quite well and are otherwise good mags.
