A good ghilli are some of the best camoflage you can have and sniping is all about stealth. Once made to your size and adjusted well it is a lot less cumbersome. Then you need to know your environement on where to hide.
To get back on the original question I would never advice a new player to start as a sniper because of the cost of the rifle (to be effective) and the difficulty with sniper role in a squad. However if that's exactly you want to do go ahead.
