That doesn't sound right.
What RoF are you getting, are you sure the shimming is right? Do you have a multimeter?
I've seen a few lemons and I ALWAYS get RoF drops when I use them, but I did run one to 39 RPS at 340 FPS without it getting warm.
I don't know a lot about electronics, maybe Stealth can chime in.
