Had one go off infront of my throat last friday, was thrown around a corner in CQB and happened to hit me. Didn't have my ear pro on my ears at the time, but wasn't a big deal.
I don't find sudden loud noises too threatening. However each individual obviously has their own personal tolerances for that kind of thing.
