The impediment on the mic is most likely the issue. One of the Red Deer Locals had a similar issue when he tried to transmit all we would get is static, but could hear us loud and clear. Turns out the person who modified the mic for the lower impediment of our radios connected the wires backwards.
your other option would be to try someone elses PTT and radio to see if that fixes it.
