The weight of your ammo is really what determines maximum range, assuming everything else on your gun is optimal.
Match your fps to BB weight, so at 400-440fps on .2s you should be using .3 or .32
Fps does not directly equal range, its compression, hop, barrel QUALITY, fps and bb weight that determine functional range.

Heavier ammo will increase both max range and accuracy at range
A .2 travelling 500fps won't fly as far as a .36 travelling 300fps
And the first thing you should upgrade in any gun, is the hop rubber, since it and bb weight tend to have the greatest effect on range and accuracy
