I'm baffled. I can't imagine how the nubbin is getting pressed that hard. There's some compliance in the hop up sleeve bump. What does the nubbin look like when it's mashed? Is it smeared out or is it just folded flat? It might help to replace the nubbin with a small bit of urethane tubing which is more resiliant.
