Supposedly having a mosfet before the trigger contacts eliminates arcing, so there's no carbon deposits to prevent contact.
But that being said, I've seen the plastic trigger contact housing MELT with 9.6v large and 7.4v LiPo batteries.
Arcing is only half the issue, the current going through the switch causing excessive heat is the other. That's why you need a true mosfet switch and not an external mosfet.
