I am using some magpull-style pulls (the old ones that started the company) on mine.
They will usually bounce off the rubber and land flat on the side.
I try not to drop them from shoulder, but it happened a few times.
Closed bolt lips are easy to break and will not survive a few hits.
Open bolt are beefier and protrude a lot less, so there are less chances that they will be hit. I have not broken any lips on my 8 mags yet.
