nah... i think the news cast was exgerating to instill fear into the public and of course make the story more interesting.
But yes... ive compared air soft glock to live glock and damn.. the resembalance is remarkable! Except for a few difference... such as the magazine release switch is slightly different shape.
But if i was a cop and saw a kid wielding the air soft version id probably draw on him.
