I've used both a 1-point and 3-point sling.

I find that the 3 Point sling works best, for what I want. I want my weapon slung in such a way that as long as I am on my feet (crouching, kneeling, standing, etc) and if I let go of my weapon it will not hit the ground. Also, when patrolling I am able to relax a bit while keeping my rifle still up at a ready position.

With a 1-point sling you pretty much have to carry the rifle all the time, and it only comes in handy when you are not moving and standing. For some they like this, as they want to have their weapon at ready at all times. For me, I don't need this.

To each his own though. I suggest you try both, and then sell the one that you don't like as much. In my case, I kept both.
