All AEGs will break in some way eventually. There is no way to absolutely Murphey-proof an AEG.

Some people will read that and want to say "Well but I had/ made gun X and it never broke braghraghragh" or "Gun Y never breaks unless it's defective" or "Gun Z is great, had one for 6 years just don't mess with it".
Those experiences will lead them, and others (especially new guys) to think "Well maybe if I buy that gun, I'll have the same experience! I won't get a Lemon or mishandle it because I am Me!".

That is a bad way to look at airsoft guns. Every miracle story is either an exceptional or expensive case of circumstance.
A good, sober way to calculate an AEG purchase is to say to yourself

1. There is no perfect gun. There is no perfect gun. There is no perfect gun.
2. My gun will break. If I treat it well, it may not break next week. It may anyway. I must accept this as my reality and prepare.
3. I will not be able to fix it myself. I must be ready to send it to a Gun Tech, or spend the hundreds of hours of studying and practical application before I can trust myself to do it well. This is the ratio of what the work is worth vs. how much my own time is worth. Time almost always sides with the Gun Tech.
4. I can limit the possibility and severity of breakage by buying a higher quality AEG.
This AEG will still need the same upgrades as one of lesser pedigree in order to qualify as 'Supercool', however in materials and spirit, it will be stronger.
5. After all, and through all, and though 'worth' $X000, one day, it will break, no matter what brand, no matter who last worked on it.
6. I must do everything in my power to hide this cruel reality from my Wife.
If I have no Wife, I must respect myself by diligently paying off my credit card, and in the best case maintaining a cash float of no less than $100 for emergency parts and labour.

If you remember these tenets of AEG ownership, you will not be disappointed by an AEG's failures, and if you do manage to get your hands on one of those factory perfect Unicorn guns, well then that's all cake & gravy!
