M93R is good IMO because its semi, burst, or full auto. Handy for situations where full auto would be needed.
I think KSC makes two (GBBs)(the System 7 being the newer and better one) and I've heard of good things about it, but I've never actually held one.

The OP has this as his project requirements:
- Common, easily sourced parts and strong aftermarket support.
- Light upgrade path.
- Easy to learn maintenance.
Although the M93R is one of those guns I always wanted on my wall, aftermarket support is rather slim, mostly standard parts shared with Glocks.
Full auto is the bane of pistols from a maintenance and reliability point of view. Fun, but you really need to know your way around them once the inevitable gremlins set in after a few months use. I read about people bricking their guns from a
simple slide swap, and these people knew a crap load about the guns.
