With hop up and tightbore upgrades, you should be able to have comparable range to your TM M14. However, consistency is gonna be worse on GBBR's due to both recoil and bigger velocity deviation between shots.

As for reliability of WE's GBBRs, I can't say much because I've never owned a GBBR from them. However, from personal GBBR experiences, it can be reliable as long as you take care of it. GBBRs do require a lot more maintenance than AEGs. That being said, maintaining a GBBR is very straight-forward compared to AEGs and when something does fail, it is extremely easy to replace.

I think the biggest disadvantage for GBBRs is cold weather. It really does kill the performance and gas efficiency. So if you game outdoor during winter, consider an AEG backup.
