try this.. just put the motor plate in place but dont screw it yet just press it firmly and try to pull the trigger. if it runs just slowly put the screws in place and slowly tight them em' up. But if what i just said doesnt work. what brand of grip are you using. sometimes motor plate does't align properly. I had encountered this type of problem before but just a little dremmeling solved the case.
