Doing it this way defeats one of the main purposes of a strike face, which is to prevent the slide from being pushed out of battery when:

a) the pistol is either pushed at the muzzle by your target
b) it is used as an alternative force block (AFB)

When the slide is pushed backwards, it will not fire. If a device is attached to the slide, then the slide will move along with it if pushed backwards. This is why all AFB/"strike face" devices are attached directly to the frame.

If it's just for the sake of aesthetics, then by all means, do the modified compensator route. I realize this is for airsoft anyways, and the chances of us actually using our pistol to control someone is highly likely not to happen.
