okay... your uncle has rights to be "bitchy" if you intend to use that aeg in play it's too hot and you can seriously hurt someone.
anyways... you need a spring swap, which requires the whole gun torn down to the gearbox, and the gearbox opened. your best bet would be to find a gundoc in your local area ... and while your at it pay the extra few bucks and have the gearbox reshimmed, cleaned/lubed while it's in there being torn apart anyways.
as for FPS and range... BS and a big steaming load of BS at that... most aegs are happy in the 370-390 range. FPS helps the bb still have some authority when it gets out at max range, and helps punch through bush in heavy woodland enviroments.
good consistant barrel (length again doesn't really mean crap other then clearing the length of your outter barrel to cut down the risk of contacting it on the way out) ... a good hop rubber/spacer combination .. and good bb's ... like .28's or .30's if you can run/hop them
keep your FPS lower, spend your money on your hop up, run good bb's ... you'll put WAY less stress on your wallet and gearbox ... also consider alot of fields require you to have a sidearm over certain FPS .. and will restrict your range you can engage another target.
my last game I ran a 280fps aeg (bone stock TM insides) ...I outranged 400fps guns that just had parts thrown at them. the only real difference was it took me up to 20 rounds to chew through a bush, it took them around 5 ..
