Times have changed now. TMs and King Arms (Which I consider above par) AEGs can be had for $300 now. You'd be silly to pay $500 for a TM when Real Swords can be had for that price range. And just because it's cheap, doesn't not make it crap. I paid $300 for a JG G36C 3 years ago. It's has seen countless games and is now in the hands of its 3rd owner and has yet to have any issues.
@OP It's not worth dropping a new gearbox in a crapsoft gun. Tell your friend to get AVed and he'll have access to the classifieds. There are some great package deals on TMs for around $300.
