thats one of my gripes with "steel" in airsoft. most of the time it's mild steel that is used.. i would rather have a carrier made out of light weight 7075 T6 forged aluminum then one of shit steel. for one the rate of fire would be more realistic and the system as a whole would be more gas efficient.
the way i look at it, if it's steel and not hardened, it's a waste of money. level 3 anodized aluminum has a surface hardness of 56+ RC, that harder than some hardened steel.
my RA-Tech steel carrier had the side walls pushed outward, and the underside were it contacts the hammer had been worn into a slot. haven't even put 300 rounds through it.
