Back on topic; the video doesn't actually show how to take off the hand guards like the poster asked. Luckily its really easy.

With the AEG flipped over, pull the cleaning rod out from under the barrel. Take out the grub screw under the gas tube and slide the tube forward. The hand guard retention parts will come with it.

The upper hand guard should come free. The lower hand guard has a short pin that holds it straight. Just pull it slightly away from the body and remove.

I apologize if I missed a step; this all comes from the top of my head.
