Most are long-time Airsofters who remember the time when everything was somewhat dodgy, every gun cost nearly a grand (starting), and the absolute end of Airsoft in Canada really was one bad exposure away.

It took a loooooooot of effort and example of character to get from that era to nowadays where Cabela's sells AEGs openly and Airsoft retailers can have an actual storefront without fearing a Witch trial.
Many of these people have also seen people actively find ways to get minors guns illegally, which hurt(s) the Law's view on the sport. They have also seen legitimate businesses get shut down and have tens of thousands of dollars worth of licensing and merchandise confiscated due at least in part to the reputations set down by people importing and retailing illegally.

Even though so much has changed socially, the law has not.
Think of it like drinking:

Alcohol is a prohibited substance for the purposes of ownership, consumption, or transport until you are 18 years of age (Manitoba drinking age). You can't have any, period.
There are ways to get around this, and it may seem innocent, but from the Enforcement side of the fence it is illegal, and dumb, and woe betide the man who sold you booze.
You may not have intentions of trying to get some decent but affordable Scotch until you're 18, but there's no guarantee to me that you're not getting some advice before the weekend.
A Bar owner that throws you the hell out of his place or the liquor store Clerk that gives you the stinkeye for coming in underage isn't trying to personally spite you, nor are they being rude, given the big picture.
They just don't want their personal livelyhood to be jeopardized by your presence.
The patrons or customers who get equally upset aren't trying to attack you either, they just don't want their favorite hang-out to get shut down if the Liquor Control guys happen to be around when you drop in underage.

And they know that if you really want to drink you'll be back when you're legal anyway.

That analogy is pretty sound, but in practice is even too weak because where drinking (even underage) is a mostly socially acceptable full-blown portion of Canadian culture, Airsoft is not.

I hope this clears up some of the bitterness, but in case you're butthurt and it doesn't, the community is overwhelmingly positive and helpful in person.
Show up to some games and things will be cleared up for you.

With regards to the G&G:

They are generally considered to be decent, middle of the road Airsoft guns (the higher-end G&Gs anyway).
They aren't bad at all, run fine for skirmishing bone-stock in most cases, but have a few features or flaws which keep them from being great.
These include plastic lowers, proprietary or semi-proprietary parts, and sucky piston heads.
They can be turned into great guns, but only after you've put the money you saved when you bought the G&G (vs a 'high-end' gun) back into the G&G.
I would call them good starter guns if you can get a good deal, but you won't know what a good deal is until you get Age Verified and have access to the forums.
Well thank you all for the positive replies after I stated my opinion there (thought it would severely back fire on me).
Cliffradical: I totally understand that the Community wants to preserve itself and wants to avoid all kinds of trouble with the law and etc. Its just frustrating when you ask some questions and you are not age verified, and the only answers you get is: Get AV'ed. Doesn't help anybody and is a waste of a post. But I understand that this "sport" or "hobby" is fragile in Canada and that all negative things involving media and laws want to be avoided, hence age limitations.
But thank you for the Info everyone, I get the main image of G&G now.

Thats all I wanted to know. Wasn't really that hard now was it?
Thanks again and cheers to a long and sunny weekend (here in BC at least hope your peepses weekend is long sunny too)
