ya i too am not a fan of the short stroke. i wouldnt make it due to fact that as you saw you have to mill your receiver. Unless the open bolt rifles already have the slots cut for that short stroke block, Spartan on your first link i was thinking something like that rail, but just getting rid of the front iron sight and having the rail slide over the gas block so its solid across the top. I love that charging handle, and pistol grip, and i wish they showed more on that part for the m4 stock
