On AEG's the bb exiting the barrel makes a whip or "pop" the suppressor muffles this a little, but the motor is the main cause of sound so really is just cosmetic used to cover a longer inner barrel.
On a GBB it useless but looks cool
On the TM MK23 NBB it is amazing the audible noise is next to nothing.
