That is a horrendous looking battery... Whoever would put that in their gun in that condition needs their heads checked or a wake up call...
Solid advice, always check wiring, and nicks, cuts, breaks, repair them properly... Either replace the wire, which is recomended, or cover with heatshrink tubing.
