Thanks Strelok! I first used EASY-OFF OVEN CLEANER and then a dremel tool with wire brushes (making sure to disassemble and mask off the internals). I did not need to get all the paitn off, just as much of it as I could. Lacquer thinner got the rest out but again the top paint (lacquers sprayed on) will be pretty durable and cover most of the old paint. - Cheers
