If you want...you can tap a little grub screw into the side of the white spacer to set it on the piston body (black tube). I did that to mine and it hasn't budged since. Little AEG screws work great.

As said, the white block is to center the piston body so that it lines up with the cylidner (brass tube) and it should be as far rearward as possible. It should be used.

If you've got some spares you could try and mix-n-match to find a tighter fit.
