I personally wouldn't recommend a GBBr for a first gun. A good AEG would be a better idea. It's cheaper to buy, requires less maintenance, it's cheaper to keep equipped ($15 / mag vs $50-90 / mag), and parts are cheap and easy to come by in country. And you can also use it outdoors in winter. GBBr will mean you can't play with temperatures of about 5ÂșC or less.
I'd personally recommend an ICS M4 or M16 as a first gun. You get the base gun and can buy a separate upper receiver / front end and a second upper mechbox. Tune one to sub 400 fps velocities and use that with a longer front end for outdoors, and a second upper mechbox tuned to sub-350 fps with a short front end for CQB. That way, by removing 2 pins, you can swap configuration in less than 2 mins.
For GBB, go either TM or KSC / KWA for a Glock. My KSC G17 has been a fantastic workhorse for 3 years now without any issue, and has seen literally thousands of rounds. KSC or TM will cost a bit more than other brands, but you really get what you pay for.
