Never had a plastic slide but I was told when I picked up my side arm to just go metal as the plastic slides tend to break when using propane.
I have put alot of rounds through my KJW G23 and have seen no issues with the metal slide wearing anything yet.
Plus if you really want to I am sure you could pick up plastic slides dirt cheap as everyone seems to not use them when a metal is available
