All my pistols run on propane; even the lil' WA M84FS cheetah, which has been firing strong since '04.

(I must have lucked out & got a good one, as I've read reports of other WA pistols shattering slides on attempts to use propane.)
My friend's M136/AT-4, however, uses a full 12g CO
2 cartridge per shot.

It'll launch a Nerf "mini-Vortex" rocket about 100ft with a flat trajectory; can get 300ft easy if you arc the shot and don't expect to hit anything. (At those ranges the wind throws the rockets around like a chipmunk in a pinball machine.)
I'm in the middle of prototyping my own M136 based loosely on his design; trying to decide whether to use cartridges or an internal CO
2 (or HPA) rig. Cartridges seem easiest; consistent velocities without messin' about with gauges. Refillable tank would be cheaper though, and add the possibility of adjustable velocities.
Propane is out of the question; the volume of gas used per shot would pose somewhat of a hazard to a chainsmoking user (i.e. me).
And I always thought a CO
2 powered semi-auto sniper rifle with blowback would be cool.
