Yes they can be taken apart very easily.

Sorry no link, I came upon it by accident. From what I recall a thick zip tie was cut to a certain length and placed in the backend of the mag behind the spring. The maker of the video gave the length for the brand of mags he used to make them hold only 30 rounds. Drake does the same thing with BBs by the sounds of it.
