Undermounted Shotgun

Hey all, this is my first post, but I thought I'd ask this question here because I've seen a lot of cool customs on this site. I'm working on making an undermounted shotgun for my gun, but before I start I wanna know if this can happen.
First of all, I've heard of people (real operators) using Ithaca M37s for a Masterkey, not just the Remington 870, is this true? I bought a really cheap M37 that runs off shells and has the 3 shot barrels and all that jazzy realism stuff, but if an Ithaca isn't realistic that defeats the purpose. Second, how would I make the peice that attaches it to an RIS?RAS rail? I thought of getting an M16 carry handle then removing the handle, so I have just the RIS mount, and then bonding it to the shotty. If I were to screw it on, would the screwtops sticking ever so slightly out of the RIS piece affect how it mounts at all?
Thanks
~c

EDIT:
I don't know if this'll fully affect anything, but looking at it, the gun I have isn't quite an Ithaca, but close. Note that I'm not going for effectiveness too much, mostly just for fun as a kinda surprise attack. The gun I own can be seen here: http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_inf...oducts_id=5902
