The illuminator to the right of the googles is a "always-on" IR iluminator.
This means that if you play with people that have a real NV set, your will show like a Christmas tree in the woods.
Theses are unfortunately not real NV. It is only a camera that has the IR filter removed/modified, with a small LCD display and lenses to adjust focus on the display. It needs the illuminator otherwise the camera will be blind.
