There's a guide on how to do it that comes with Prometheus NEO strike 1 piece hop-ups. They were designed to replace TM style 2 piece hop-up units. It involved dremaling out parts of the lower receiver, but it's very do-able.
As for the sorbothane pad, you're supposed to remove the last tooth on the piston to allow proper engagement of the sector gear.
