While trigger locks are not specifically stated in C-68 (Firearms Act) re. storage/transportation of prohibited devices, right or wrong our airsoft "toys" happen to be regarded as such by some in law enforcement, and C-68 does mandate reasonable precautions for storage and transport of these things. And should you have to show the gun to the police officer that has pulled you over for whatever reason, at least the lock will help ease his or her mind regarding the very realistic looking gun you have in the back of your car.
To put it simply, trigger locks are a cheap method of complying with C-68 but more importantly, they prevent unauthorized access to the weapon thus reducing the possibility of a negligent discharge. For gas guns like my WA M4, a barrel blocking device and the trigger lock serve both as a safety and as a security measure which costs practically nothing. Not a bad idea from where I sit...
