Type 97B Magazine Compatibility
 

Hey,

I'm looking into buy more mags for my real sword type 97B but i'm not sure which mags will feed properly in the gun. I really want the thermold style mags like these http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...oducts_id=1522. If these won't work does anybody know which will?

Any standard STANAG mag SHOULD work on the 97B. Now, in practice, even on standard AEGs, some mags feed better than others with certain guns. There's really no way to tell for sure other than trying them.

The front-to-back dimension is the key. Length (top-to-bottom) is a non-issue, width is almost a non-issue. The problem is that that M4/16 magazines are too "long" (front-to-back).

The RS Type 97 Series magwell is definitely on the shorter side (front-to-back). You're looking at 68mm, I'd go 65mm to be on the safe side. I know 65mm works from first hand experience.

P.S. The magazine catch on the RS is tough. Unless you depress it hard when you insert or remove your mags, it'll eat the side of your magazines down in no time flat.

Alright thanks Crunchmeister and The Saint, if anyone with M4 mags(preferably TM, CA, G&P) can do me a favor and measure the mag length so i know what company to buy mags from.

@The Saint thats why i'm buying new mags my RS one is starting to get worn down.

Bump. I'm curious what other people are using in their 97s. I picked up a box of king arms ones recently and they fit but they dont feed.

Kingarms mags needs some modification on their feeding lips, I got 3 boxes of them and sold them next day as I got them. try MAG mag, though they were made of plastic, I never have any feeding issue with them.

Realsword Stannag magazine maybe....

Have a Type 97... Looking for Metal mags for it.
Not wanting plastic mags...


Choices are Real Sword - Expensive mags (14+ per mag)
King Arms - not tried
Mag - Not tried

anyone have any input for metal mags in a RS Type 97 (not B)

I originally bought 7 Real sword metal mags for my 97B.

Worst mags I ever had. A little sand and they jammed. 4 out of 7 were unusable after 2-3 outdoor games. Hard to clean too.

I switched to plastic MAG brand mags and they work like a charm and much easier to clean too.

Anybody try metal MAG magazines? Think they have them in stock at airsoftparts.ca. MAG seems to be the way to go but I don't want plastic.

Realsword mags need to be lubricated and maintained like real mags, Then they're fantastic.

The T97 and the T97B use the EXACT SAME lower, so if mags work in a 97, they'll work in a 97B.

I have used to throw and drop mine on the ground and kicked em across floors to teammates and they still fed like a champ. Plus the 190 round cap in em is pretty nice as well.

Yeah 190 rounds is awesome when you don't have to wind them, pretty cheap for them too :P
