Skinny Tall Guys - Vest Sizing?

Are there any lanky guys on here? What size do you wear for molle vests? I'm eyeing something like an RAV. I'll probably go with a Pantac one for now since it's just a test run. I'm about 6'1" and there's not a spot of body fat to be found on my torso. What size vest would be suitable for me?

Thanks,
Gabe

I'm about 6' and weigh a mighty 125 Lbs, so calling me a "stick" would be an understatement. I'm using a 2-piece MAV from tactical tailor. Had to do a bit of creativeness with the backstraps to get it tight enough, but it fits ok over my BDUs.

I'm a six foot one skinny white boy, I like molle belts in combination with a chest rig of some kind, usually a chicom, but soon a mini-MAV. I've tried wearing big bulky plate carriers, and they suck ass if you're not a big bulky guy. Chest rigs tie up at the back, so one size fits all in most cases.

You guys make me thankful I'm "husky"

Hmm... Maybe I'll get a RAV, tighten it as much as is physically possible, then work out until I fit it. :p

I am not tall, but I have the SpecOps Over the Armor MOLLE vest.

http://www.specopsbrand.com/ProductD...p?ProductID=40

It is adjustable in the back, and the adjustment just uses the MOLLE in the rear, so you could literally make the front panels touch in the back. I don't know how narrow the arm slots would be, however.

If there is a SpecOps retailer in your area, it would be worth it to check one out in person, because they are not cheap. I got both of mine for about $100.00 USD on Ebay and they retail for about $170.00 USD.

I really like them because they are light weight, cooler, and have more MOLLE mounting space than any other vest that I have personally used.

By the way, the "extender panels" are for people that have the opposite problem of yours!

Wow, I'm 5' 8 + 130lbs and I'm having MAJOR trouble finding gears that fits me, let alone 6' 125lbs?

man... i thought i had it bad when the tightest setting of the gear is still loose.

Yea, I'm a lanky thing lol.

If I face into the wind, and place my arms close to my sides, you can hear the wind whistle through. On the plus side, us skinny types don't need ghillie suits. We just stand sideways and the opfor can't see us.

I'm 6'7" and 38" chest, and there's two things I've found for myself.

1) With my chest size I can expand a medium vest to fit, or shrink an XL to fit, it's not hard to find something.

2) With my height, anything with static shoulders (whereas they don't adjust or only adjust a couple inches) fit like a bra. Most vests are made for people around 5'8", some that are made for 'tall' people are good to about 6'.

There are some vests like the CF tacvest or PLCE assault vest that you can adjust for height, and these gave me the best fit. Same goes for most chest rigs and webbing with two shoulder straps.

Para cord and Duct tape Help LOADS with making vest fit right.

If your looking into a vest try to find some way to try it on, either buy from a store in your city or find someone who has something similar.

Hell you could just make a rig out of duct tape and para cord.

I'm not tall but I am VERY skinny, 140 to be exact. At first I just used an RRV and it would bounce around to much so now I wear a black hawk plate carrier with the large thick plates and it fills out pretty well.

FOX_111 February 15th, 2010 16:26

I used to be skinny. I worked on my body and now most of my medium sized shirts won't fit.

Hit the gym and take proteins guys! 6 months of hard work and you will fit in your gear perfecly! haha

I started at 150lbs and I'm now close to 170lbs.
