I believe a lot of users on here do NOT recommend the REC series, as they have low quality parts. I could be wrong though.

I'd recommend you take a look at CAS. Theyre cheaper and seem to be the same quality as the better G&G products.

FryingPan16 January 19th, 2010 18:18

where do you get the cas

Love January 19th, 2010 18:24

Look at 007airsoft.com

But please, do not play the sport of airsoft unless you are 18 or older.

Lythinca, please do a little more reaserch next time before providing advice :)

CAS (Canadian Airgun Supply) is the name of the importer that import all clear G&G products to canada.

They divide their products into three levels of quality.

The bottom is the Rec. - a rec M4 is $260
The middle is the standard - a standard M4 is ~$300
The top is the Advanced - an advanced M4 is ~$350

Most people will tell you the rec isn't worth buying, and I have to agree, for only about forty dollars more, you get a much better performing gun.

In fact, if you can afford it, i would do with the advanced, or if your willing to spend a few bucks more then the advanced, Go with the SRC Gen III

Below is a thread comparing the REC to the standard.

Amos, the guy who did the indepth reviews is a well respected gun-tech here. He knows what hes talking about.

Didnt you admit to playing airsoft when you were 16? Funny how until someone is 18 they damn the rule. As soon as they turn 18 they think anyone who isnt 18 shouldn't own or play airsoft.

Back on topic, OP do you mind telling us how old you are? Also you would have found out that the Rec versions of the G&G line are crap and not worth their weight in salt. Do some research and look into getting AV'ed if you wish to get into airsoft as it will open up the classifieds and broaden your market for airsoft.

MMatersk January 19th, 2010 18:33

GO with SRC M4 check them out at 007 Airsoft Ken made a nice comparison. then again you said your budget is 230$ or so

knightoice January 19th, 2010 18:34

I heard rec guns suck
Just save up a bit more and you can get a much better gun that will last you longer.

Love January 19th, 2010 18:36

Well, I'd rather not have others feel the heat of the flames, like I did.

Plus, this has all been a "learning", experience for me. ;)

Also, yea. REC = catpoop.

FryingPan16 January 19th, 2010 19:28

Thanks, but how about the jg m4 at shootsoft. It is the same price as the rec.

From what I heard shootsoft's customer service is terrible. I'd go with 007 airsoft, or some other one.

Do not buy from softshoot. They have terrible customer service, and will not ship your gun for weeks, sometimes even months.

If you are 18+ get AV'ed(age verified) and buy something on the classifieds, or but a hi-end G&G/SRC from 007airsoft, capitalairsoft or a couple other sources.

Apparently Velocity Arms new series of rifles are decently made, but I have no hands on experience, and therefore cannot comment.

FryingPan16 January 19th, 2010 19:58

I was browsing velocity arms and i saw their m4 is it any good?

You keep eluding the 18+ question, so I am going to assume you are a minor.

There is nothing wrong with being under age and wanting to get into the Airsoft scene, but theres a wrong way to do it, and buying a clearsoft gun outside of the Airsoftcanada.com community is the first step in the wrong way.
