Systema PTW prices

This is obviously a dumb question...but at least I'm in the right place to post it...lol :)

Why are Systema PTWs so freaking expensive? I scanned through the general specs of some of their guns on RedWolf and they don't look much different from other good quality AEGs.

The words "professional training weapons" should be informative about their quality and realism, but are they really the best of the best airsoft rifles? How so?

Thanks.

Externally they may not look so different, but internally they are a completely different story. Even externally they are a different story as unlike other AEGs I believe PTWs are compatable with real world armalite external parts.

Many believe they are the best.
How so? I will leave that up to someone who actually owns one to explain.

Thats just the initial expense, then you have to factor in upgrading it externally. Of course most people have to put real steel stuff on it, shorten the pcb board, mags, batteries, etc.

The main attribute of a PTW is the detail of realism. Trigger responce, 3 burst compatibility, size in every dimention(aegs are thicker than real M4s,), weight is the same, mags are the same size as real M4s, Also the capibility to put a red cylinder shooting 550fps, and in 15 seconds, you can change to a black cylinder for 330fps.

PTWs have only one limit to what you can upgrade it externally, that is the bank account.

And if he thinks the OVERSEAS prices are bad, wait until he sees the $1-2K+ here in Canada.

The best part is though, with everyone wanting a GBBR (Ok not everyone...) that means there's plenty of amazing PTW deals in the classifieds.

retracted because the amount of reading hurts Safx's tiny brain...

I used to think Systema was pretty good for its bolt stop feature, back when it was the only one that did it. Then TM did it cheaper and mechanically, and the GBBRs hit the industry in force.

This has a lot to do with the motor and gearing. You can tap/feather the trigger and still have it shoot. You can't do that with an AEG.

Sure you can tap/feather AEG triggers and still get complete cycles. It used to involve pretty crazy FPS, or a microswitch trigger system with a good battery (it's very hard to get a partial cycle on my Star).

Nowadays it's just a Trigger Master away.

Tyson your post tire my eyes,
can we get a mod to limit his
individual post word count to
less than an essay? ;)

I'm sure the pros of owning a
PTW can only be enjoyed once
you've owned regular AEGs for
an extended period of time, so
you'll have a reference point.

But, they are essentially for the
rich and spoiled. It's an airsoft
luxury, complete with a shaky
reputation and a guarantee to
drain your wallet and life force.

Has anyone actually owned one
they've gamed for a season and
not had to waste time and cash
replacing or repairing?

PTW is the airsoft fabergé egg

....

Matching maruzen shotguns...one black, one chromed. One used...one not so much?

WA pistols kept/upgraded/desired based on, "I'm all about the bling..."

4+ ICS M4 rifles...purchased wisely for sure...but still...weren't they nearly identical?!?!?!

Luxury and spoils can be as individual as...the individual. Don't hate the player...hate the game.

The Acer September 23rd, 2009 16:04

You can build a gun to be more accurate than a PTW.
You can build a gun to have trigger response like a PTW
You can build a gun to have burst control like a PTW
You can build a gun to be more powerful than a PTW.
You can build a gun with a cylinder swap like a PTW.

But to do all of those at the same time??
You can try but its just as costly as a ptw, maybe more, and you're still at the mercy of trial-and-error, Where PTW's are engineered to for it.

You pay for what you get:
RS dimensions.
Built.
Reliability.
Performance.
Quick Swap cylinders (fps change).
And that ohhhh sweet smooth trigger pull!

Once you held a PTW and shot it, no other AEG even come close. Same with a GBBR ;)

Brian McIlmoyle September 23rd, 2009 16:23

Pew pew VS ZIP ZIP VS BLAM! BLAM!

Forever_kaos September 23rd, 2009 16:24

Well, sure they have all those 'nice' things... But reliability I am not sure of.

I've seen 1 Systema go down in the rain, I kept on playing with a good ol' AEG
